When the weather is nice and the stars are out, there is nothing more romantic than snuggling up with your date at an outdoor movie. Date Night at Leu Gardens screens a film in its beautiful garden setting the first Friday of every month. The feature on June 7 is ‘Vertigo.’ Bring a picnic, a bottle of wine, chairs and blanket. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for kids and Leu Members are free. Check the weather before you go. The gardens open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 8:30 p.m.

Baldwin Park MovieThe third Friday of every month, Baldwin Park puts up a giant screen for Movies in the Park. Family-friendly fun starts at 6:00 p.m. and the film begins at 8 p.m.  Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and arrive early for a free entertainment in a beautiful neighborhood. The movie on June 21 is ‘Bee Movie.’ Barry B. Benson, a bee who has just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry’s life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey, and subsequently decides to sue us.

Mount Dora MovieThe second Friday of the month, Mount Dora welcomes everyone to the park for free movies. Pack a blanket and bring the kids for a free family-friendly film. ‘The Muppets’ is screening on June 14 at 8 p.m. at Donnelly Park on the corner of 5th Avenue and Donnelly Street. With the help of three fans, The Muppets must reunite to save their old theater from a greedy oil tycoon.

Wreck-It RalphOn select Fridays, Avalon Park sets up a giant outdoor screen for family-friendly flicks under the stars. Pack a blanket and round up all of the kids for free popcorn and a free movie in Town Park during Movie Under the Stars. The feature on May 24 is ‘Wreck-It Ralph.’ Activities start at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at dark.

Kids FringeKids Fringe, a special part of the Orlando Fringe Festival, is a free event to entertain the little ones with live performances, art activities, classes and more. The activities are free and take place in the sculpture gardens of the Mennello Museum of American Art two weekends in a row, May 18 & 19 and May 25 & 26. Kids and families can watch theatrical and musical performances under the big tent, take dance and drum classes under the Mayor Tree, meet robots and storybook friends at the character meet-and- greet, and play in a bounce house.

Orlando Fringe FestivalThe 2013 Orlando International Fringe Festival has returned for another round of unique cultural experiences, May 15 through May 28, throughout Orlando’s Loch Haven Park. The 14-day festival is 100% unjuried, 100% uncensored, 100% accessible theatre, music, dance and art for all. Plus 100% of the ticket sales go directly to the artists. The Fringe is held in beautiful Loch Haven Park, just north of downtown Orlando, at Princeton St. and Mills Ave. The shows are in various theaters at The Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 E. Rollins Street), The Orlando REP (1001 E. Princeton Street), and KID’S FRINGE is held at Mennello Museum (900 E. Princeton Street).

For a totally free experience, spend a day on the Grand Green Lawn where you can grab a bite to eat and see live entertainment on the Outdoor Stage. Bring cash for food vendors and the beer tent. Live events being on Thursday, May 16 and run through Sunday, May 26.

Summer Movie ExpressWhen school’s out, there’s nothing better than a morning at the movies to keep the kids entertained. Regal Entertainment Group has scheduled nine weeks of family-friendly movies at select theaters. During Summer Movie Express, selected G- or PG-rated movies start at 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The starting dates are either June 4 or June 11 depending on the theater closest to you. Tickets are just $1.

While the weather is nice, it’s the perfect time to watch movies under the stars in Orlando. Pack a blanket and bring along family and friends for free popcorn and an outdoor film screening in Winter Park. Popcorn Flicks in the Park, presented by Winter Park and Enzian Theater, features classic movies on a giant screen.

The feature on Thursday, June 13 at 8 p.m. is ‘How to Marry a Millionaire.’ Lauren Bacall, Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe play three models of modest means who rent an expensive Manhattan penthouse apartment and pose as women of wealth. It’s all part of a scheme hatched by Bacall to snare rich husbands for herself and her roommates.

Enzian Theater brings the movies outdoors for free screenings of fun flicks at the Wednesday Night Pitcher Show. On select Wednesday nights, enjoy a free outdoor movie on the lawn starting at 8 p.m., grab a beer and some snacks during Eden Bar’s happy hour from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and play Jell-o shot movie trivia. Answer correctly and they’ll give you a complimentary shot.

Universal Orlando ResortUniversal Orlando Resort is offering Florida residents a free second day to experience the destination in 2013.  Florida residents who purchase a 1-day ticket to either Universal Studios Florida or Universal’s Islands of Adventure will receive a free second day.

Pricing for a day at one of the parks starts at $88 per adult, plus tax. Tickets must be purchased by May 24 and used by May 26, 2013.

The perfect way to enjoy a summer evening under the stars is at the Summer Concert Series at Art & History Museums – Maitland (A&H). The series kicks-off Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. with popular Central Florida band The Hindu Cowboys, whose sound has been described as “rich with folk, traditional string band and organic corn-fed roots music all topped off with retro-country gravy.”

The A&H’s Summer Concert Series takes place the second Friday of every month from May to September and admission is $3.
