The third Friday of every month, Baldwin Park puts up a giant screen for Movies in the Park. Family-friendly fun starts at 6:00 p.m. and the film begins at 8 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and arrive early for a free entertainment in a beautiful neighborhood. The movie on June 21 is ‘Bee Movie.’ Barry B. Benson, a bee who has just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry’s life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey, and subsequently decides to sue us.
Kids Fringe, a special part of the Orlando Fringe Festival, is a free event to entertain the little ones with live performances, art activities, classes and more. The activities are free and take place in the sculpture gardens of the Mennello Museum of American Art two weekends in a row, May 18 & 19 and May 25 & 26. Kids and families can watch theatrical and musical performances under the big tent, take dance and drum classes under the Mayor Tree, meet robots and storybook friends at the character meet-and- greet, and play in a bounce house.

When school’s out, there’s nothing better than a morning at the movies to keep the kids entertained. Regal Entertainment Group has scheduled nine weeks of family-friendly movies at select theaters. During Summer Movie Express, selected G- or PG-rated movies start at 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The starting dates are either June 4 or June 11 depending on the theater closest to you. Tickets are just $1.

Follow the luck of the Irish through Winter Park for Central Florida’s only St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 3, 2013. The celebration features Irish music and step-dancing at the main stage in Central Park with demonstrations by the Tir Na Greine School of Irish Dance and the Watters School of Irish Dance. Phenomenal landscape artists will paint all week in and around the Wekiwa Springs State Park and the Wekiva river areas during the annual Wekiva PaintOut, March 3 – 10, 2013. Artists will use the outdoors as their inspiration, developing masterpieces outside “en plein air,” meaning “in the open air.” This style allows for you to interact with the artist during the creative process. The PaintOut will start with artists arriving at Wekiva Springs State Park on Sunday, March 3rd and continue with events scheduled through Sunday, March 10th.
Every second Sunday of the month, Mennello Museum offers free admission to the galleries. Families can enjoy make-and-take craft stations and mini-tours from noon to 4:30 p.m.
