Baldwin Park MovieThe third Friday of every month, Baldwin Park puts up a giant screen for Movies in the Park. Family-friendly fun starts at 6:00 p.m. and the film begins at 8 p.m.  Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and arrive early for a free entertainment in a beautiful neighborhood. The movie on June 21 is ‘Bee Movie.’ Barry B. Benson, a bee who has just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry’s life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey, and subsequently decides to sue us.

Kids FringeKids Fringe, a special part of the Orlando Fringe Festival, is a free event to entertain the little ones with live performances, art activities, classes and more. The activities are free and take place in the sculpture gardens of the Mennello Museum of American Art two weekends in a row, May 18 & 19 and May 25 & 26. Kids and families can watch theatrical and musical performances under the big tent, take dance and drum classes under the Mayor Tree, meet robots and storybook friends at the character meet-and- greet, and play in a bounce house.

haagen-dazs-free-scoop-161x125 Haagen-Daz is offering free scoops.

The free scoops are served 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 14 at participating Haagen-Dazs shops, which typically are in shopping plazas and malls.

To browse for local shops, log on to the shop locator  on the website.  To be sure a specific shop is participating in Free Cone Day, it’s probably a good idea to phone first.

kids home depotFree hands-on projects for youngsters are offered occasional Saturdays at participating Home Depot stores.

The activity May 4 is building and decorating a planter. 

The  free kids’ workshops, which teach youngsters tool safety, usually are 9 a.m. to noon the first Saturdays of the month. Participants receive a Kids Workshop apron and keep their projects. The activities are designed for youngsters ages 5 to 12.
