Cool off at Central Florida Springs near Orlando

The Central Florida Springs, Florida's natural cooling system, is one of those must-see destinations. With water temperatures in the low 70s year-round, a dip in the springs located near Orlando is incredibly refreshing.

A day at the springs is also cheap with entry starting at $2 for a Florida State Park.

Rainbow Springs
Archaeological evidence indicates that people have been using this spring for nearly 10,000 years...and it continues to be a popular spot for swimming, tubing, snorkeling, canoeing and kayaking.

$2 per person. Children under six years old are free.

Blue Spring
Blue Spring State Park covers more than 2,600 acres, including the largest spring on the St. John's River. Blue Spring is a designated Manatee Refuge in the winter, and home to a growing population of West Indian Manatees.

During a cold snap, 400+ manatees can be see huddling up for warmth in the spring. $6 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.

Wekiwa Springs
Just one hour from most central Florida attractions, Wekiwa Springs offers visitors the opportunity to relax in a natural setting, enjoy a picnic, or take a swim in the cool spring.

De Leon Springs
Go in the morning to cook your own pancakes table-side at the Sugar Mill Restaurant, and then stay for the day to take a dip in the swimming area or rent canoes.

Kelly Park/Rock Springs Run
A favorite park for tubing, Kelly Park features a free-flowing natural spring and Rock Springs a clear, swift creek.

$3 for 1-2 people. $5 for 3-8. There's a concession stand open daily or you can bring your own food to picnic.

Tubing tips: Bring your own tube, float or pool noodle to save money, or you can rent them outside the park at Rock Springs Bar & Grill for $7 each.

Wear water shoes and bring a water tight bag for valuables because the park doesn't offer lockers.

Wekiva Island
Wekiva Island is that secret watering hole locals don't want visitors to discover. Located along the shore of spring-fed Wekiva River, this eco-friendly oasis has it all.

Spend the day lounging in Adirondack chairs, playing volleyball, swimming in the cool waters and listening to live music. The park usually fills to capacity around noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

Admission is free during the week, and the charge is only a dollar or two on the weekends.
