Orlando Fringe FestivalThe 2013 Orlando International Fringe Festival has returned for another round of unique cultural experiences, May 15 through May 28, throughout Orlando’s Loch Haven Park. The 14-day festival is 100% unjuried, 100% uncensored, 100% accessible theatre, music, dance and art for all. Plus 100% of the ticket sales go directly to the artists. Once you purchase a Fringe button for $9, tickets range from free to $11. Check out the Orlando Fringe Festival schedule.

The Fringe is held in beautiful Loch Haven Park, just north of downtown Orlando, at Princeton St. and Mills Ave. The shows are in various theaters at The Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 E. Rollins Street), The Orlando REP (1001 E. Princeton Street), and KID’S FRINGE is held at Mennello Museum (900 E. Princeton Street).

For a totally free experience, spend a day on the Grand Green Lawn where you can grab a bite to eat and see live entertainment on the Outdoor Stage. Bring cash for food vendors and the beer tent. Live events being on Thursday, May 16 and run through Sunday, May 26.

Downtown Disney is bringing the luck of the Irish to Raglan Road Irish Pub with four days of revelry, March 14-17, 2013.  The St. Patrick’s Day Celebration is chock-full of entertainment, good food and authentic libations. Listen to Irish bands, watch the Raglan Road Dancers and learn dance moves from Ronan McCormack of the original Riverdance cast.

Hop over to Mall at Millenia for brunch with the Easter Bunny. Enjoy a tasty brunch, comic show, DJ dance party and capture photos with the bunny. Seats are limited, so get there early. The first Thursday of each month, the Orlando Museum of Art showcases a new theme of art by local artists accompanied by live music, a cash bar and café with selections by area restaurants. With an entry price of $10 each, it’s an inexpensive way to meet up with friends or invite a date.

Follow the luck of the Irish through Winter Park for Central Florida’s only St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 3, 2013. The celebration features Irish music and step-dancing at the main stage in Central Park with demonstrations by the Tir Na Greine School of Irish Dance and the Watters School of Irish Dance. Irish music will be provided by the Tommy Doyle Band. Don’t forget to wear green!

Phenomenal landscape artists will paint all week in and around the Wekiwa Springs State Park and the Wekiva river areas during the annual Wekiva PaintOut, March 3 – 10, 2013. Artists will use the outdoors as their inspiration, developing masterpieces outside “en plein air,” meaning “in the open air.” This style allows for you to interact with the artist during the creative process. The PaintOut will start with artists arriving at Wekiva Springs State Park on Sunday, March 3rd and continue with events scheduled through Sunday, March 10th

Culture & Cocktails at the Art & History Museums – Maitland is a social event for art lovers and a perfect spot for date night. For only $5 each, you will receive one drink ticket and experience an evening of art, live music and poetry.

This month, artist Gianelle Gelpi is featured in an exhibition that includes a spectrum of her most recent paintings, with large and small brightly-rendered acrylic paintings and a sample of her mother-daughter collaborative works. 

In addition to the art exhibition, Culture & Cocktails features music by Jayo, sponsored by Performing Arts of Maitland, delicious food truck fare from Allan’s Jerk Shack, popcorn from The Enzian, friendship and fun!
